The AFTE appreciates the opportunity to comment broadly on this Green Paper consultation and favours all initiatives that aim to support the European economy. The AFTE is in favour of an appropriate regulation package to ensure financial stability. However, we advocate effective implementation of a well-balanced regulation to avoid negative consequences and constraints on non-financials companies’ ability to fund themselves, manage their various risks and handle their liquidity requirements. In this respect, we note that the recent regulatory focus on reducing counterparty risk has resulted in increasing liquidity issues for number of market players.
